Where Legacy Inspires Connection

ree

My passion for both art and history run through my veins—passed down through generations of visionaries, pioneers, and storytellers. It is more than an interest; it is my inheritance, my calling, and my compass.

I am the great-granddaughter of Leander Mayhew Churbuck, a bold cultural innovator who, alongside Andrew Carnegie, co-founded the very first art gallery in the United States. This legacy of elevating art as a force for public enrichment continues to shape my own creative mission today. Art, in all its forms, is not simply to be observed—it is to be lived, shared, and used as a bridge between generations, communities, and cultures.

On the other side of my lineage, I am the great-great-grandniece of two iconic American naval figures:Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who secured a pivotal victory at the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, and his brother, Commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry, who famously opened Japan to trade in the mid-19th century after centuries of isolation under the Tokugawa shogunate. Their courage, diplomacy, and sense of mission helped shape not just a nation, but the modern world.

These powerful legacies—of vision, creativity, leadership, and bold engagement with the world—inform everything I do. I live and work at the intersection of art, heritage, and place.

And then, there is the sea. My love for the ocean is elemental. I cannot exist without it. The scent of salt air, the cadence of the tides, the sound of waves breaking on the shore—these are not mere details of the coast, they are part of my soul. The sea renews me. It restores clarity, calms my spirit, and inspires endless creativity. It is my sanctuary and source of strength.

To walk in the realms of art and history—which I see not as separate spheres but as deeply intertwined expressions of culture and identity—is as natural to me as breathing. They are both mediums through which we remember, reflect, and reimagine. In my work, I strive to honor both: preserving what came before, while championing what is yet to be created.

It is with great joy and intention that I welcome you into my world.

Whether you are an art collector, a fellow history lover, a coastal soul, or simply someone in search of beauty, meaning, and inspiration—I invite you to explore, connect, and create alongside me.

May this space be a place where legacy breathes, creativity flourishes, and the spirit is continually renewed.
